I have never claimed to have invented the Miracle Fly, which is a simple pattern tied on a weighted hook that absolutely catches more trout than anything I’ve ever used. What I will take credit for is perfecting the techniques for fishing this pattern. I only use superior, heavy-grade hooks with sharp and strong points that are extremely hard to find in the right weights, and I have spent countless hours researching the proper materials and colors that make this fly absolutely deadly. For detailed information, please check out this article that goes over the intricacies of the Miracle Fly and why it works so well on catching both large fish and numbers of fish in all water conditions on rivers throughout the country. The main point of the piece is that you don’t want a pattern that sinks really quickly, but you do want the fly to ‘roll’ when it finally reaches the bottom. This is why any old weighted hook will not work as well as what I have devised, and I have taken painstaking efforts to get this right; from using literally dozens of styles and brands of hooks to taking the time to personally mold the lead onto the hook itself.Hand-tied Miracle Flies – If you are not a tier, there is no need to worry; I sell finished versions of the Miracle Fly that utilize the same weighted hooks that have taken years of diligent research to get just right. Plus, I also use the very best material for the body; this ensures that the fly sinks slowly but stays on the bottom without hanging up once is gets there. Keep in mind that the majority of strikes will come when the fly is falling, so my personal patterns are tied to be easy to see.The Miracle fly comes in your choice of colors: oregon cheese, apricot supreme, egg, light roe, pinky lady, dark roe and shrimp pink.Yellow: I use this color all year long, and brown trout seem particularly drawn to this shade, along with apricot supreme being by second choice.Shrimp Pink: This color is great for catching rainbows, so I use shrimp pink when in areas where there are concentrations of big ‘bows.Orange: Variations of orange work best right up by Norfork Dam, and I consistently catch browns on this color during high water.

Pink Lady:  What a deadly color combination light yellow and pink mixed together is! Pink Lady seems to really imitate the natural fish eggs in the rivers, and this makes it unique in the fact that this color combo will work very well in a lot of areas where the other colors produce just marginally. Plus, Miracle Flies in this shade have a way of fooling some of the biggest trout around, even when they are acting very spooky.

A “Bakers Dozen” (13 flies) for $15
50 flies for $65.00
100 flies for $120.00

Miracle fly combos $85 and up can be ordered by emailing Jeremy at flytiehunt@hotmail.com .

Feel free to mix and match your order. Due to a technical glitch, it takes up too much space to create a PayPal tab for these options, but you can always send a direct payment (along with your emailed order) if you have a PayPal account. Please be sure to specify the exact colors you want, along with how many of each.

I am confident that you will not find a better hook for the Miracle Fly, and the finished patterns will catch loads of trout when nothing else seems to be working; especially on the White River Basin cold water fisheries (and most likely anywhere else that trout call home).

Please feel free to call or email me with any further questions. Whether you are a beginner intermediate fly fisher who is looking for a pattern that you can have complete confidence in while learning the sport of fly fishing or a veteran angler that is in need of a fly that you can pull out when your regular patterns are not producing as well as you would like them to, the Miracle Fly is what you have been looking for.

Here’s a testimonial from a recent customer:

Jeremy,

Just wanted to let you know that I tried the scuds this past Sunday and they preformed very well. I haven’t had the chance to use the sowbugs yet but I feel confident they will produce as well. I also wanted to let you know that I’m very pleased with the workmanship and durability of the flies that I have purchased from you. I have bought the miracle fly, the rusty midge as well as the scuds and the sowbugs from you and all I can say is I will be buying more. I have purchased flies from other sites in the past but only a few make flies that look like the real deal plus last a long time. Keep up the good work and thanks again.

Tight lines,

Amos

Miracle Fly (Bakers Dozen) Apricot Supreme

The miracle fly is quite simply exactly what the name implies. When the Ozarks area trout are as tight lipped as a Senator leaving a strip club, this is the go to fly that will put them in the net. You’re not going to believe this fly until you try it.

Yummy Worms

I must admit that this fly was inspired by the Miracle Fly, but instead of tying an egg on the best jig head on the market, I decided to try the same thing with ultra “BIG” chenille. Well, this pattern works exceptionally well; especially when anglers feel that a fly fished right on the bottom is necessary.

As a general rule, Yummy Worms seem to catch more trout when the fish are not overly aggressive, so it is definitely a “go-to fly”. Also, Yummy Worms are easy to fish; basically, rig a Yummy Worm beneath a strike indicator, and you are good to go. Plus, it catches fish in any type of water.

Jig Hooks (specify color): This product is truly the strongest on the market with respect to hooks that work well with a weighted head. What is the point of hooking into a nice fish with a weak hook only to have it straighten out on you while the fish gets away? These hooks are guaranteed to reduce potential heartbreak exponentially compared to fishing with the inferior hooks used for most Miracle Fly knock-offs.

Dynamite Worms

The “bling” fly. That’s why it works. I like to call these patterns, attractor s because they are loud and get fishes attention. It just gets fishes attention. Not so popular on Taneycomo, but Davy Wotton believes in this fly when he’s fishing San Juan Worms on the White River and so would a lot of other people. For some reason this patterns singles out some nice brown trout. This material is hard to burn with a lighter so if you are tying it make sure you pay attention to how close you are putting the flame when burning the ends.

Big Chenille WormsThis unique worm is tied with a material that is softer than normal chenille and exhibits a lot of movement. We like to tie these flies in bright colors and big sizes – this is especially effective during bright, warm days. Fishing a Big Chenille Worm right off the bottom when the dams are generating a lot of electricity is one of the best methods for hooking into a large trout.Price: $12 for a Baker’s Dozen (13)
JumboWhen the water is rocking, jumbo worms are a very productive fly for targeting big fish. Drift a jumbo worm near the bottom in a current seam and hold on – you never know what you might hook up with.

San Juan WormsOne of the most productive flies for fishing the White River Basin trout fisheries is the San Juan Worm. This is because the constant water fluctuations wash worms into the rivers on almost a daily basis. No fly fishermen should hit the water without an extensive selection of San Juan Worms.
Micro

Use this size in riffles and runs when the water is off or if flows are light. Still, there are times, especially when conditions are bright and the water is clear where a micro worm will work during moderate to high flows, as well.

Various Zebra Midges

You better not leave home without these patterns in several colors and sizes. I would say this is the number one fly that trout feed on in shallow water. Because these tailwaters are supported by midges, 80% of the trout’s diet with consist of midges. Black being the primary color, but these fish will hit rusty, rusty dun, yellow, white, chartreuse, olive and red zebra midges all the time. That’s why I suggest you get a verity because you never know what color they might want. As far as what color bead, I usually fish gold and nickel in low water and copper in higher water levels.

V-Rib Midge

This is another staple pattern for imitating midges. The vinyl rib gives it that hemoglobin look that midges have in their pupae and larvae stages. There are several styles of this pattern, but the most common ones are thread bodies with clear v-rib over top of it. You can also incorporate flash under the body that also attracts fish to the pattern. My number one go-to fly is this pattern would have to be red body with either nickel being my first choice followed up with gold being the second.

Taneycomo Scud’sThere are two style of scuds that we fish religiously on Taneycomo. One is the sowscud scud and the other one is the awesome possum scuds. These scuds are weighted with 12 wraps of lead wire in 0.15 so they stay on the bottom. Out of all the scuds you can choose from in fly shops these by far are the best producers. Most people fish them in the outlets, but they work just about anytime and anywhere on the river. The best way to fish them is in riffles or fast runs that keep a good “dead” drift presentation, The popular sizes that I see fished more of the time are size 14 and 16. And to be real honest this is a fly I would have in several sizes and colors so make sure you stock pile these in your fly box. If you want a big brown fish these flies and it will happen, it’s just a matter of time! My favorite colors are tan and gray. These flies will also work on all our Ozark tailwaters.
Awesome Possum Scud’sThis material is more the duller look out of the two. During low light conditions I find these to work the best.

Sowscud Scud’s

Sowscud scud’s are more popular when fishing during the day. This material as a sheen to it that sparkles in the sunlight so more people fish them then. This fly in gray is probably the most fished fly when fishing from a boat in high water. The bigger ones in the size 12 and 14 is what I would recommend.

Beadhead Scud’s

What can I say about this good ole stand by. This pattern has been around for who knows how long. Originally, this fly was tied with natural rabbit dubbing, but over the years, tiers have gone away from it and I don’t know why. I believe rabbit dubbing has a ton of guard hairs which in return gives it that ‘buggy” look and that is why I like tying beadhead scuds this way. Since it’s a high water fly for the most part I think trout mistake it for several insects. I really like fishing this fly on the White when the caddis are thick in the water.

Trout Crack

This fly was originated for the White River, but I find this fly to work just about everywhere. Great fly to fish for spooky fish and I like to trail it below scuds or under small dries when I’m fishing skinning water. I usually fish this fly from sizes 16-22 and 18 is my overall size I fish the most. This fly is only commercially tied in the tan, but I came up with a black version that I find to work just as good. I sometime wonder if they mistake it for a midge, which I’m sure they do, it just looks buggy!

Trout Crack – Natural (Bakers Dozen) sizes 16,18, 20, 22. Please specify what size you want after ordering.

Sowbug’s

Sowbug’s look just like scuds, but the difference is one swims and one crawls. However I do think trout mistake these two insect for being one or the other. Both gray in color, the only difference is the scuds can swim back down to the bottom and get under the rocks. Sowbug’s crawl which makes them vulnerable when they first turn the water on. I believe they see sowbug’s more in the water column, but they would prefer a scud over a sowbug any day of he week because the scud has protein and the sowbug does not. I think the tailwater that has the better of the sowbug population would have to be the Norfork followed up with the White and Taneycomo. I love fishing the natural ones in high water and have hooked some very big trout on the White River right up at Bull Shoals Dam.

LeechesI have the opportunity to share with you Michael’s special dubbing blend to make his ultimate night fly that has been under the radar for several years until now. You won’t find this fly unless you are one of his friends or bought it when he used to own Backcountry Outfitters in Springfield. I have the dubbing now so the skies the limit on stocking up on this popular pattern. The best way to buy these is to buy more than one so you save on shipping cost. Since there’s a $2.00 dollar shipping charge, you can email me and specify what colors you want to add in the package deal. You may also click the quantity button through PayPal if you would like several of the same color. I can also custom tie these if you would to put a tungsten bead on it.

Big Streamers- Articulated
Peanut EnvyThe second best pattern for overall hooking browns in the 20-23 inch class. The thing I like better about this is the smaller profile which gets down a little quicker if you’re fishing deeper water with faster current. Other than that I came up with my own colors you won’t find in any fly shop so that’s a plus. I have found other styles to work better than the average ones. You should see more added being mottled up like crazy.Note: if you notice the size 6, it really means the front hook is a little bigger then the back hook, but over all these are tied with the front hook being a size 4 and the back in a size 6. I also tie these on a hook that has been discontinued which is a mustad 3366 and will continue until I can’t find them anymore. The front hook on this is a size 2 because the shank is smaller (which I like better then a standard streamer hook) and the back hook is a size 4. The gap is a little more open and the shank being shorter makes for way better hook sets.If you buy more than one in the same color you can justify the shipping cost. Or you can buy the combo pack and get all the basic color schemes.

What can I say about this pattern? It basically speaks for itself. Custom Shad Kill Box

Custom Fly Tying “Shad Kill” Box

Shad Kill Box

There is no other event in Ozark trout fishing that brings big fish out of the woodwork like the annual shad kill. It looks like the ‘kill will happen again this year, so you will want to take advantage of this insane bite later on in the winter/early spring. To learn more about the shad kill, check out this article: http:///shadkillarticle.html

The Shad Kill Box contains a varied assortment of the streamers I use for trophy trout during the times when shad are on the water. Use the non-weighted flies for dead-drifting in the soft current breaks, and the weighted patterns for working deep. Be sure to stock up because, by the way things are looking with respect to cold weather, we are going to see a prolonged shad kill occur this year.

There will undoubtedly be a significant shad kill on our rivers this winter, so procuring one of these boxes is a good way to be prepared for this event which brings HUGE trout out of the woodwork. Even the biggest and most intelligent fish throw caution into the wind when shad become an easy meal. This box includes a total of fourteen patterns.

Out of all the boxes that I am offering, this is the one you cannot leave home without. Check out this diverse selection of subsurface flies that represent the staples of most trout’s diet. The majority of fish feed near the bottom more than 90% of the time, so it is important to have an arsenal of nymphs that have been proven to work. I would say that I will use at least two or three of these patterns over the course of a full guide day on the water.

***The Guide Flies Kit Box can be ordered with half the amount of flies for $75 – the box is still included. Send an email to notify me of this request.

Craw Kit

Price: $92.00

Fly patterns that imitate crawfish have a definite time and place in the fly fishing world. Almost every river in the Ozarks is loaded with these crustaceans, and many big fish will key in on this food source from late spring through the middle of fall. It can be difficult to productively fish crawfish imitations, so I have designed the Crawdaddy Kit to simplify the process. One of the featured flies is lightly weighted (Hybrid Crawfish), while the other one will sink like a rock (Pine Craw) –  this allows anglers the opportunity to cover several different types of water with varied presentations. Browns are known for their love of crawfish, and these flies will also work very well on smallmouth bass. I like to dead drift the Hybrid Crawfish in the riffles, while I will slowly strip the Pine Craw pattern along the bottom in slow tailouts.  The flies in this box have been tied in the colors and sizes that I have found to be the most effective at fooling big fish.

The Spaghetti & Meatballs Box

The Spaghetti & Meatballs Box

Here is what is included in the Spaghetti and Meatballs Box:

- Eighteen (#18) Jumbo Worms tied on #14 Klink-Hammer hooks that are perfect for this particular fly. Colors: cerise, fl. Pink, light pink, red, orange, natural brown

Price: $65.00

This is the first box that I am offering that includes the Miracle Fly. Click here to learn more about this deadly pattern. I’ve put this box together so that anglers can fish with the flies that White River Basin guides use when conditions get tough. The Miracle Fly is effective during all water conditions, where the really big Jumbo Worms and the Y Worms are intended to be used when flows are high.

The Y Worm is a newer pattern that I really love for catching big fish on high water. It is basically an ‘ultra’ worm with an added “kicker” piece off the back of the hook. In the water, this fly resembles a ‘glob’ of worms, and our opportunistic trout are always on the lookout for hearty meals. The Jumbo Worms are tied with really big chenille, and like the Y Worms, the Jumbo Worms are intended to get a fish’s attention in fast or stained water. Both patterns will produce throughout the year, but they work best in the late summer when trout key-in on bag worms and very large terrestrial worms.

It took me awhile to decide whether or not to sell the Miracle Fly, and I’ve realized that since my purpose is to help as many people as I can, I just could not keep the cat in the bag any longer. This egg pattern is not subtle, but it does work and it will increase your productivity. When the bite is tough, there is no better slump-buster than the Miracle Fly.

Almost every fly fisherman knows that mammoth trout eat sculpins whenever they get the chance, but most people struggle with finding the right patterns to get the job done. Sculpins are difficult to imitate because they swim so quickly, and they normally just dart from one rock to the next. As fly fishermen, we have to do the best that we can when it comes to presenting sculpin patterns. The Ultimate Sculpin Box is designed to equip anglers with the flies that are needed to fool some of the most wary trout on any river system.

There are three patterns included in this box: the High-Water Sculpin, the Taneycomo Sculpin and Kelly Galloup’s  Wooly Sculpin. The High-Water Sculpin is a really big fly tied on a 1/0 or 2/0 fish. Don’t expect a lot of action on this pattern – when you fish this fly, you are going after one big bite. The Taneycomo Sculpin was created as a subtle pattern that will not easily spook big fish in shallow water, and the presentation-eye hook rides up, which allows the fly to slink very naturally along the bottom. The Wooly Sculpin, created by Kelly Galloup, is a perfect alternative to using a Wooly Bugger, and I like to strip this fly through slow pools. I will also occasionally dead-drift this streamer in high water.

The Ultimate Sculpin Kit Box is all that you will need to productively fish sculpin imitations in all types of water. Those who like trophy hunting will want to add these flies to their arsenal. On the White River, Norfork Tailwater and Lake Taneycomo, the trout feed heavily on sculpins throughout April and May – just a little food for thought.

Shad Kill Kit #2

Shad Pattern Box Number Two

A nice selection of the most productive shad patterns

- Eight (#8) GC’s Easy Shad in sizes #4 and #6 (four of each)

- Eight (#8) Classic Blow Flies in sizes #6 and #8 (four of each)

- Four (#4) Double-Bunny Shad on straight-eye hooks in various colors

Price: The total for this collection of sixteen streamers is $40.00, and that includes a Morrell Foam Box.

Price: $40.00

If you have been reading up on the shad kill that happens every year in the Ozarks, you have no doubt realized that there are basically two techniques we use during these exciting times: stripping and dead-drifting. Although stripping a highly-visible fly off of the bank can provide heart-stopping action, the majority of the fish caught during the shad kill come on the drift. This second shad pattern box was created to provide the best dead-drifting patterns along with a reliable stripping pattern.

Retired White River guide Tom Rogers came up with the Blow Fly, a very plain, but effective, non-weighted marabou shad pattern. The Blow Fly is included in the shad box, along with another dead-drifting shad pattern designed by retired guide Gabe Cross. This fly is similar to the Blow Fly, but it incorporates more flash. Rounding out this selection is the Double-Bunny Shad tied with tungsten dumbbells to get down deep. When it comes to stripping a fly, it is hard to beat the natural, pulsating movement of rabbit fur.

Even though the shad kill only lasts for a couple months, shad patterns will catch fish all year long. Besides working well for trout, every fly in this selection has been known to fool other predatory species of freshwater fish, and I have even had luck with these patterns in saltwater.

It has been my personal mission to spread awareness regarding the dry fly fishing available on White River Basin trout fisheries. With all of the high water lately, many Ozark anglers have not even seen a floating pattern in years, but the fact of the matter is that big trout on our rivers will aggressively take dry flies when conditions are right.

The Complete Beefy Dry Fly Kit is comprised of primarily larger flies that will work well when some wind-chop hits water and in the faster moving sections of the White and Norfork during low water. Several of these patterns can also produce remarkably well during light to moderate flows. I truly love watching big fish explode on my dry fly when drifting while the water is running. This kit provides everything that is needed to coax large trout to the surface on Ozark trout tailwaters and beyond.

This collection of thirty-eight personally-tied patterns will be offered indefinitely. Dry fly fishing can be phenomenal in the Ozarks, but it does take finding the right conditions to realize consistent success. There are few thrills in the world of fly fishing that are more exhilarating than experiencing a day when big fish are looking up on the White River Basin trout fisheries. This kit contains everything that you will need to be take advantage of this thrilling bite.

Flys and Guides Shopping

I have decided to take a new approach to how I market my flies. Because many of my customers prefer to pay via Pay Pal, it was difficult to complete large orders of a variety of flies because the system requires that each fly be paid for separately. For this reason, I will be just offering fly boxes in an effort to simplify the ordering process. This means that each order will come in a complimentary Morell fly box (valued at $15). If you are interested in a custom-created fly box, please feel free to email me for pricing. By offering fly boxes, my Web site visitors have the opportunity to acquire the exact fly selections that I utilize while guiding. The flies I am offering are all personally tied by me and they will produce results anywhere that trout call home. I am always available to answer any questions you may have, and let me know if you prefer to pay by check or money order.
